Fabulous 15-piece Italian mahogany Art Nouveau dining suite by Giambattista Gianotti. This set is a very rare and important Italian dining set documented and published in a book referencing the most important Italian cabinetmakers. A contemporary and equal of Louis Majorelle, Giannotti worked with both metal and wood when designing high style Art Nouveau furniture. This set is definitively the top of the line for Gianotti, as indicated its presence in a variety of publications relating to Italian cabinetmakers. The suite has phenomenal brass metalwork strap hinges, curved corners with inset panels depicting Mucha influenced maidens/figures in the metalwork. Truly superb quality! Original gilt and acid etched glass work. It dates from the late 1800s and is the epitome of the period?s high style.
