5-piece large scale Aesthetic Movement bedroom suite circa 1880. All of the original solid brass pulls are dated March 6, 1878. It has the best aesthetic incised carving that I have ever seen. Nice turnings, detailed capitals on columns.
The center dresser drawer and two fancy cylinder roll jewelry boxes on top of the dresser are lined with purple velvet. The dresser mirror weighs at least 200 lbs. The crest on the bed and dresser are over 12″ thick from front to back. Constructed of solid black walnut with burl walnut of incomparable quality. The patterns are unique, with exotic designs flowers and birds.
Very little wear to the drawer slides. This set could not have been used regularly. Dresser stands 107″H x 56″W x 21.5″D. It has a secret drawer at the bottom of chest. Bed is 106″H x 63″W x 84″D. Inside measures 57″Wx 78″D. Foot-board is 6″ thick and headboard is 12″ thick. Full size mattress. This bed can be made to hold a queen mattress without too much trouble. Nice double door Armoire is 105″H x 56″W x 22″D. Again the burl and incised carving is fabulous on the armoire. The interior of the armoire looks almost new.
The set comes complete with two night cabinets that are 30″H x 36″W x 20.5″D.
